Drawing from 28 years experience as an educator and 31 years as an NFL referee, Jim Tunney is the celebrity speaker for team building, leadership, peak performance, motivation, customer service and wellness.

Recognized as a speaker who educates, motivates and entertains, Tunney works with Fortune 500 companies and international organizations teaching the skills needed for S.M.A.R.T. goals and effective action. His credentials rank him in the top 2% of professional speakers working today.

Jim had an exemplary career as an NFL referee. In his 31 years as an NFL official, Tunney received a record 29 postseason assignments, including ten championships and three Super Bowls. Jim was the first official to be named to the "All-Madden Team." He was awarded the Gold Whistle, the highest accolade given by the National Association of Sports Officials in 1992, and is in the NFL Hall of Fame.

 

Tunney's book, Impartial Judgment, "The Dean of NFL Referees" Calls Pro Football As He Sees It, (Griffin, 1995) chronicles his career in the NFL.  Other titles include Speaking Secrets of the Masters (Executive Books, 1995), with members of the Speakers Roundtable; and The Winning Spirit (Griffin, 1995), with writings by Les Brown, Jim Cathcart and others on what it takes to shape an Olympic champion's dedication to cause and training. His most recent work was co-authoring Chicken Soup for the Sports Fan's Soul (Heath Communications, 2000).

 

Jim holds both of the National Speakers Association's awards for professional excellence, the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and the Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE).
